2026 On-Demand FREE Training: Artificial Intelligence for Emergency Services District Operations

** Texas Government Code Sections 2054.5191 and 2054.5193 require certain state and local government employees and officials to complete a certified AI awareness training program. The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), in consultation with the Public Sector AI Systems Advisory Board, certifies eligible training programs to comply with this requirement. **

**ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT OPERATIONS** — This course provides a practical introduction to artificial intelligence for Texas Emergency Services District commissioners, administrators, fire and EMS leaders, and operational personnel. The course explains how AI may be used in ESD operations, identifies important risks involving privacy, accuracy, cybersecurity, transparency, and accountability, and presents responsible-use practices that keep people—not technology—in control of operational and administrative decisions. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to evaluate AI tools, protect sensitive information, verify AI-generated content, and establish appropriate safeguards for their district. 

The training was specifically designed for ESD Commissioners, and is hosted and provided by EMSCyber360, independent of SAFE-D. The company has generously allowed SAFE-D to provide ESDs access to the course.

Note: Due to the brief nature of the training, this course is not accredited by VG Young for ESD Commissioner Continuing Education hours.
